Jeju government on Friday announced that its 5th coronavirus patient, who was very recently discharged from hospital after a very long treatment, tested positive again, and tranferred for quarantined care.
She got infected, fir the first time, after coming back to Korea from Spain and spending over a month for cure.
Her boyfriend, who was with her all the way to Spain abd back to Jeju, had the same case that he got positve again after returning to normal life.

 Jeju today marks D+15 since the last case of COVID-19 infection was confirmed. This makes Jeju, again, a uniquely safe place from the coronavirus as it has only one spread within the island, which was between family members, and no domestic contagion.

 The 13th patient tested positive on April 14th, and has been hospitalized for treatment since. Furthermore, it has been 2 weeks since the general election, which was considered to be a turning point for easing the present alert system of strict social-distancing. The Korean government is discussing if it can lift strict rules off like opening schools again as usual.

 As of April 29th morning, Jeju has had 13 confirmed cases, but 8 of them were already discharged. There are special cases of patients who got re-confirmed, 1st, 6th, and 11th. The 5th is very distinctive because she has been in hospital since March 24th. The 12th has also been in in-bed treatment for a long time since April 3rd.

 This coming holiday will be decisive time for fighting the virus as it is expected about 180 thousand tourists will visit Jeju.

 Wow! It has been 13 days since Jeju had its 13th case of coronavirus confirmed on April 13th. This marks it again(!) as one of the safest place in South Korea from COVID-19. It is considered coronavirus-free for keeping '0' infection in 14 days. The 13th patient was allowed to return home on April 26th afternoon, according to Jeju.

 Jeju made the first history on March 18th when was the 14th day since the 4th patient tested positive on March 4th. It was broken on March 24th, when a couple was revealed to be infected after returning from Spain.

 This can make people feel secured from the global crisis though another fear is closing in. And, that is the coming 'golden week' starting from April 30th, Buddha's Birthday, till May 5th, Children's Day. JTA(Jeju Tourism Association) is expecting as many as 180 thousand tourists will visit Jeju.

 More worries are from the 2 cases of the 1st & the 6th patient, who were re-hospitalized after being discharged as they got resulted in coronavirus negative. Some has been treated in-house for over 14 days, e.g. the 5th was still in bed after she was transferred to hospital on March 24th.

 With a knife above the head, Jeju authorities are trying to put best efforts to prevent the virus from being spread all over during and after the golden week. As a countermeasure, they designed special procedures for entry to Jeju Island. The detailed is as below:

1. Onboard notice through announcement, compulsory report of overseas travelers, tests in coordination with public health centers, etc.

2. Walk-through clinic for managing overseas travelers.

(Newly introducing, of which purpose is widening suspicious testees to domestic visitors)

3. Abnormal body temperature down to 37.3℃ from 37.5℃.

3-1. In case one is diagnosed suspicious, he or she will be requested to write a health question form, and then, if necessary, to go to the walk-through clinic to be tested.

4. Jeju will set up more thorough system to check body temperature of every person one by one.

5. Jeju will make all people fall in a line, keeping 1-meter-away rule, etc.

6. Jeju will also proceed new operaional system of the walk-through clinic as it adds 2 multi-purpose negative/positive pressure sample collection booths, aka ultrafast walk-through.

6-1. An ultrafast walk-through clinic is a one-person test facility, which is safe and in capable of quick tests. It also has advantages because it doesn't require of medical staff putting on level-D safety equipment or disinfecting the inside.

7. Jeju Airport Company and airline companies will give more announcements of Special Procedures of Entry Season 2 and COVID-19 Sanitation Rules.

7-1. They will make best use of flight reservation text messages, messengers, and put up more banners for information.

With Seoul seen '0' coronavirus patient and Korea under '10', Jeju has had '0' for a week since April 14th when it had the 14th case confirmed.

Meanwhile, 16 Koreans and 11 non-Koreans who recently traveled foreign countries underwent tests at a walk-through clinic at the airport, which was set on March 30th.

14 of them had negative results, while the others are waiting for it to come out at 3~4ish pm on April 21st. Some are staying at home, and some at a disclosed facility prepared by Jeju.

As for Jeju of the morning of April 21st, total of 860(699 Koreans, 101 non-Koreans) have been tested. 2 were confirmed positive and tranferred into medical treatment. Self-quarantined under monitoring are 518. 19 are labeled as 'closely contacted with the confirmed' comparing 499 as 'traveled overseas'.

Jeju had 16,444 people who entered into Jeju on 20th. This is 65.3% fewer than the previous day of last year, while 20.6% more than the previous day.

■ 제주특별자치도는 20일 ‘워크 스루 선별 진료소’를 통해 해외방문이력이 있는 입도객 27명(내국인 16명·외국인 11명)에 대한 코로나19 진단 검사를 실시했다.

❍ 제주도는 최근 해외입국자의 감염사례가 증가하고 코로나19 감염병의 제주도내 유입을 막기 위해 지난 3월 30일부터 해외방문이력이 있는 입도객을 대상으로 제주 도착 즉시 코로나19 진단 검사를 받을 수 있는 개방형 ‘워크스루 선별진료소’를 운영하고 있다.

(20일) 하루 동안 검사가 이루어진 27명 중 14명은 음성으로 판정됐으며, 나머지 13명에 대한 검사결과는 금일(21일) 오후 3~4시 경 나올 예정이다.

결과가 통지될 때까지 자가 또는 제주도가 마련한 별도의 시설로 이동해 대기하고 있다.

, 4월 21일 0시 기준 제주 지역 내에서는 총 860명(내국인 699명·외국인 161명)에 대한 검사가 이뤄졌고 2명이 양성(확진)판정을 받아 입원 치료에 들어간 바 있다.

모니터링을 이어가고 있는 자가격리자는 4월 21일 0시 기준 총 518명이다.

확진자와의 접촉자로 분류돼 관리되고 있는 도내 자가격리자는 19명이며, 해외입국 후 자가격리 중인 인원은 499명이다.

, 20일 제주로 들어온 입도객은 총 16,444명이다.

작년 같은 날 대비 65.3%가 감소한 수치이며, 전일 대비 20.6% 증가한 수치이다.

 Jeju on Tuesday has confirmed that a Chinese woman in her 20s who visited the United States tested positive for COVID-19. This is the 13th case of Jeju, first in eleven days.

 According to its announcement, she arrived in Jeju on KAL(KE1201) at around 7:40 am, April 13th. She came back to Incheon Int'l Airport, Korea from the US one day earlier. She told the health authories that she has been staying at home in Jeju since the arrival. She took a taxi from Jeju aiport as she had no symptoms.

 She got her test at a public health center on April 14th, and it resulted in positive. Then, she got transferred to Jeju University hospital for treatment.

 Jeju is now conducting in-depth epidemiological investigation on her itineraries.

After nearly two weeks of no new COVID-19 cases on Jeju Island, a Chinese woman in her 20s who visited the United States was confirmed to be Jeju Island’s 13th COVID-19 patient on Tuesday evening.

The individual entered Korea through Incheon International Airport from the United States on April 12, arriving in Jeju on Korean Air KE1201 on April 13 at about 07:40. Asymptomatic, she took a taxi home to self-quarantine.

In keeping with a new directive from midnight on April 13th requiring all travelers from the US to receive extra screening within three days of entering Korea, she was subsequently contacted by health authorities and taken by ambulance to get tested at a local Public Health Center on April 14.

Her diagnosis was confirmed late Tuesday night after a second test by the Public Health and Environment Research Institute. She is now being treated at Jeju National University Hospital.

Provincial health authorities are conducting an in-depth epidemiological investigation and details of her itinerary may be released upon further investigation.

 As of April 12th, Jeju has held a good control on COVID-19, novel coronavirus considering it has no new confirmed case since April 3rd(cf. the table below). And all the cases are related with outsiders rather than Jeju residents. This is unique as no community infection has occured. Is the clean environment of Jeju the main reason of it?

 Anway, the whole country has shown a great improvement of containing the crisis, people are beginning to go back to the normal life, if not the fullest, which can lead to a slow recovery of the economic activities. The Gov. Won Hee-ryong told reporters on Friday that Jeju will prepare to welcome domestic travellers expecting them to visit Jeju when they can not go aborad after the coronavirus is over. It seems that some already started to make reservations for rent-a-cars, hotels, etc. Plus, President Moon also said on his social media Friday that we can expect to get out of 'social distancing' into 'normal life + quarantine' if we spend safe Easter and election.

 Won said "It is highly possible that Jeju can be in a new danger unless we set the stronger quarantine system than at Incheon airport. … There, we will get details of border-level of disinfection procedures and higher steps ready."

Details of Confirmed Cases

 All international flights at Jeju international airport stop flying as of March 19th, Jeju MBC reported on March 19th.

 According to it, Spring Airlines of China announced that it has run a special line between Jeju and Shanghai for the convenience of illegal Chinese people who wanted to leave Jeju, but has no more plan.

 The regular international airlines has been shut down since the coronavirus outbreak. And commercial airline companies are known to keep business that way even after summer schedules begin on March 29th, it added.

 The 1st patient who was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus is almost ready to leave hospital very soon, Dr. Bae Jong-myon, Director of the Jeju Center for Infection Diseases and Prevention(JeCI), disclosed on Thursady.

 He told reporters that the patient, who is a soldier, has shown improvement and he will be discharged sooner or later. But, the 4th has to wait till next week to make a final decision.

 The soldier was tested positive on February 20th after visiting Daegu, the epicenter of the mass infection in Korea. The 4th one was diagnosed of contamination on March 4th with the same reason.

 As of the midnight March 18th, Jeju has run 35 cases. 59 people have done self-isolation.

 Jeju has found 4 people confirmed positive for COVID-19 test as of March 6th. All were found to have been infected from visiting Daegu.

 The last 4th male case has caused some news as his itinerary changed significantly. The second announcement of it had more possiblities of close contacts, especially with his crew. Local newspapers' reports raise suspicions over this matter because Jeju government is very reluctant to revealing the itinerary of the 'acquaintance' of the No. 4. Its gender has never officialy been exposed, yet. But, rumors say it is a female, who was informed of his result and tested positive in Daegu.

 To day, he has been investigated to have seen 74 people in a close range in 8 different places.
